Why do you take communion? How do you feel when you take it?
When you are waiting for the bread and wine to come around…what do you think about?
-gosh, this is quiet
-I don’t deserve this
-I feel guilty
-Thank you Jesus
-Yep, I’ve been good this week…I can take it
Kevin DeYoung says:
‘I fear that in most churches the Lord’s Supper is either celebrated so infrequently as to be forgotten or celebrated with such thoughtless monotony that churchgoers endure it rather than enjoy it’
This week we come to 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 and look at what the Lord’s Supper is really all about. Mind you, the passage has some scary stuff about becoming ill and dying…
Have a read through the passage and consider the following:
- In what way were the Corinthians abusing the Lord’s Supper?
- How did Paul feel about this?
- How did God react to this?
- Where does grace come into this?
See you Sunday!
