This Sunday we continue in the Gospel of John and look at chapter 18:1-14. This is a very gut wrenching scene. A scene that shows the depth of our sin, and the enormity of Jesus’ love. Indeed, we are in the last 24 hours of Jesus life before his Crucifiction…the heart of the gospel.
Over the coming weeks we are going to walk very slowly through these 24 hours and beyond. We are going to see exactly what Jesus did for us and why.
As you prepare for Sunday, we not pray with Paul in Ephesians that ‘out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.’
Did you see that?
We need ‘power‘ to ‘grasp‘ the love of God that is revealed in the Cross!
